Hi all,

Im using AE101 with standard 4a-fe engine manual tranny .
previously i had an overheating problem, but did not do top overhaul just change the head gasket.

so my question is that is it necessary to do this top overhaul ?
how much would it cost for both the kits + service ?
do they service the throttle body + fuel rail + fuel injector as well ?
how long does it take to do it?

its almost 2 years and the car seems running fine except high FC .
when the overheating occurred last time, its just the temperature shoot up, but not until the point that the engine stalled or died .

need some feedback from our fellow forumers .

thank you :P

First... MAny possibilities. Why did top overhaul? Have you checked:

Radiator fan
radiator
water hoses
oil level
oil leaks
thermostat

As Salam and Hi...

If you DON'T have any serious burning engine oil, oil leaks around engine head and not a very serious overheat ...don't top overhaul, better leave it as it is...

For high FC...you need a good mechanic to check it, diagnose the wear n tear, any weak parts, wiring, sensors n stuffs...

nope .
no leak . everything works fine .
temperature is fine, no water lvl drop, i do get occasional low lvl engine oil .
but it is normal when play high RPM right ?
just the occasional high RPM

i dont see any leak on the head .
idk, im just thinking bout doing it because its almost the major service time
just thinking probably it'll help restore a bit of power, response on the engine or something

High rev shouldn't eat the engine oil if your engine is good.

I tried all w40 oil wont drop even if constant high rev.

But w30 oil will drop after around 3000km

need to pour in arnd 300ml after 3000km lidat .
occasional high rev .
is it ok or means my engine is leaking or whatnot ?

hm... actually 300ml for 3k km is still ok.. but for your wallet the best is no need to top up..lol
so... how about u notice your exhaust gas, c got any blue colour or not

nope, not experiencing any weird color coming out of the exhaust .
everything is just normal .
that's y i stated up there, im running fine for around 2 years .
just that now i take interest in taking real care of the car .

anyway, how much would the kit and also the service cost nowadays for top overhaul ?
and do they clean the throttle body + fuel rail + fuel injector + intake manifold as well ?

Normally top overhaul just alone only. If clean throttle body for 4afe is very easy, just spray the carb cleaner.

Fuel injector if you want to clean, better send to those ultrasonic cleaning. Those who use some chemicals into the tank mostly don't work as well.

3000 km only top up 300 mL? SO dam good lol... Mine more... Mine around 6k km I have to top up 1L

So means its not necessary to do it eh ?
and yeah, i think the engine oil lvl drop a bit since i do sometimes go for the redline .
anyway, still the same question, how much for the top overhaul kit + the service itself

im using castrol magnatec 10w-40 semi synthetic .
i just noticed, that i had to pour in almost a liter after 3000 KM .

and when i turn off engine, sounds like some sort of water droplet into the exhaust pipe .
can hear dropping then psssstttt sound like evaporation .

Did the temp rise up when you're stuck in traffic jam? or did it just shoot up suddenly?
I had that problem before, turns out my aircond fan didnt come on when it is supposed to..

nope no problem even during traffic jam .
it stay a tad bit lower than middle of the gauge .
i guess its normal .

the question now is not really about overheating .
i want to know whether or not i should do overhaul .
seems like im losing quite a lot of engine oil but idk where the oil goes to .
when i turn off the engine i can hear pissing sound at the exhaust header area .
sounds like water dropping at the exhaust and quick evaporation .

the pssttt sound just last for about 3 second?
if u want to save your wallet then try on some good 20w50 on next oil change... c whether still got makan minyak~

less than 3 sec .
but i can hear its droplet hitting the cast iron .
can hear it .
probably the hissing sound arnd 1 sec .
and it is repeatedly like water droplets

with this grade, the engine totally response-less d...too heavy oil grade :)

btw, try look around near exhaust manifold or pipe nearby if there is water leakage that cause the sound
