my WIRA just shaterred it's window at the driver side. Luckily the car had window film come in standard, so the glass stay intacted. The window shattered into million pieces & I can't assume it is an attempt by thieves becoz I can't find any scratches or point of the break.. The window just shattered into million pieces as I mentioned earlier.. I just guest it happens becoz i park my car under the sun(afternoon) and all the windows closed fully..
my question is... can the heat break the window?
This is my second experience bcoz the window at the front passenger also shattered before.. and it happened when my friend want to rolled up the window (power window)-the car also been parked under the sun b4 it happened later in the evening....

might due to poor QC, Sudden change of temperature, big temperature different between the cabin and outsite, etc.

Answer of your question is Yes.

and it's also possible due to sudden force apply on the glasss.

NO i dont think it can shatter because of the heat....That much pressure cannot be built in a car cabin..
most probably some one applied force..

so far, my have gone through hot and cold and the glass havent shattered yet... but there are some stories going on where their car windscreen sudenly shattered while driving..... not sure why though... mayb due to the car chassis shrinks when cold, compresses the windscreen and thus shattering it??...

jz a guess... hehehe...

it's possible, for example, when you try to close the door with force (doesn't apply if you close the door with windows down), certain amount of pressure (which higher than 1 Pascal, Pa) will apply directly to all direction inside te cabin. For normal glass, nothing will change, however, Glass with bad QC may have fine crack which is not visible by our eye may have problem, repeating action (closing door) will cause the fine crack expand.

that's one big advantage of using tinted film on the door windows. other than to prevent theft, it also protects car occupants from flying glass in case of a collision.

its difficult to say when a glass breaks on its own as we live in a very modern day and glass production technology had improved tremendously.

so, we just need other considerations such as
1. attempts of break-in.

or

2. flying stones from grass cutter blades.

just my 2 cents.
