No wonder my 165/55/14 michelin expensive la...odd size for 14"

That I should ask you because you post one....ha! ha!
My percentage refers to overall diameter change.

165/55R14 is not odd, but less choices in performance model. Best were Yoko AD-07, Michelin PP2 and BS RE-030. Since now you found PP2 use that.....
If not performance model, Silverstone, Conti, Kumho, Dunlop all have in your size.....

PS3 difference a lot. 55 series close to RM300 already. What is your original tyre size?
185/55R15 another size to look at, but narrower.....

Should be around RM500 for 215/45R17, but RE-001 already replaced with RE-002....

if i am not mistaken, it was around RM 400++ for RE001 215/45R17 but that was last year or last 2 years back.not so worried bout that since can find it at most tire shop but 255/40R17 really give me a headache.

How about RE002?have you ever tried it or any comment on that tire?

cuz I take both sizes and divide from the percentage like you thought me too

So I take both percentage say 96.75 - 90  so got 6.75 difference if were to change
from that size to another size

Yoko AD-07 and BS RE-030 also not easy to find for 165/55/14 right? didnt see u post in the list.

I remember RE-001 started out at RM430 and some shops did give discount, after that it went up in price. For RE-002, have not tried, not even RE-001 because high price. Those days, I was getting S-Drives, Falken FK452, GY GS-D3 all at around RM380 only. No comments also from members for RE-002.....

Oh! that is 6.75mm difference in height not 6.75% difference is diameter.....

Yup, AD-07 no more, that is why I post as "were". RE-030 maybe still can find.....

Oh, then how do we see the difference in diameter as in the width of the tyres? Now that
I know that defines the Height of the sidewall...

Ya, i remember AD-07 discontinued. Not sure why all the good tyres they discontinue...:hmmmm:

Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing

Diameter calculation is long process. If change rim size must add in also, therefore simply go to this website, key in the tyre sizes and it will calculate for you. Those days got to calculate, nowadays website got, just need to know how to use and read them.....:driver:

It's alright..
I don't mind sacrificing a bit of comfort for stability..
:driver:

Lowering the aspect ratio, make sure you compensate with tyre width or upgrade rim size to get as close as possible figures to original tyre size diameter.....

In the end I found the 195/55 R15 I wanted..
I got it at Weng Heng Shah Alam for RM260 per piece..
They gave me free alignment after I traded in my very worn set of rubbers..
So far I can feel it being more grippy on the road..
And not to forget quiet as well..

Will be driving down to Singapore/JB over next week..
Gonna have plenty of time to test them out..

Nice, I saw one Kelisa sprayed blue and metalic silvertop and pillars. Look a bit like Cayenne design liao

This rims not really my type. Thanks for sharing bro! Will lookaround for aftermarket rims...
Maybe just taiwan one will do...or ori Myvi Standard or SE rims

bro.. once i asked at apex sunway 195/50 or 55/15 for BS RE11 they quoted me RM700/pc.
*jaw dropped*

well, with wat taikor vr2turbo listed.. i gotta say dat T1R side wall much softer than R1R.
why not try Direzza Z1star. Currently on GY Eagle RS Sport.. super sticky but scary in wet.

Waa...RM700??? Gile man, the R1Rs cost me 380 per piece, this is almost double than that..Any idea about the price for the Dunlops as well shops that sell these? Seems to be highly rated.

R1Rs are also scary in the wet..like dayung sampan man! Haha...had to limit my speed to 60km/h on the highway because of (very heavy) rain. If it's the usual downpour, I'd say the wet performance is acceptable. I don't drive that quick in the rain anyway..hehe

If want extreme tyres, usually they are weak in the wet.....

Best tyres so far for me for aquaplaning resistance were the German Made GY F1 GS-D3

PP2 good for both wet and dry, stiff sidewall for cornering, only a bit bumpy and will be noisy when worn...

Be careful in the wet, you don't want to end up like those 2 R35s, right?

The GTR was running on extreme dry tyres, BS RE-070.
I have a friend on the Evo-X came with Dunlop Extreme dry tyres too, the Dunlop SP600 which he drives below 80kph in the wet, ask me what wet tyres to use, so told him to use GY Asy, and he loves them, now should be on Michelin PSS....
