4AGZE supercharger question

can someone explain to me how does the supercharger in the 4agze work? my mech said it works on load, when it feels there is a load then it will start boosting. it this true? what is the normal boost preasure?

8 psi stock crank pulley, oversize cranck pulley like cusco, hks, nevo etc.. will make your boost around 12-13.5 psi.
