yes pckk...my friend is using them. but if u r only intend to upgrade the rear, u might have prob with the balance of the braking system.
in theory, the front disc should be bigger n better than the rear.

Balancing valve....

I have a question, if we take out the 2 precats & the Cat, won't our check engine light be permanently on?

I have a exhaust guy in puchong who quoted me 280 to do the Y pipe, i'm a little skeptical because of the big price difference between him and the quotes you guys got. But he is willing to give a money back warranty if i'm not satisfied. He seem to be very competent. What do you guys think?

RM 280 sounds good. It's not the materials, those are cheap. It's how much these people want for their time.

And no, our cats do not have sensors on them. Just make sure you put back the two O2 sensors you find in the original pipe and all will be well.

Changed my Y pipe last week, as well as the cat. Instantly felt the difference, the car now feels eager to rev, do not feel any sluggishness going uphill, when I change lanes do not even kickdown a gear to go up to speed. FC improved tremendously, previously RM120=450km (80% city driving) my first full tank after conversion RM120=580km (80% city driving).

The original Y pipe is only 1.6" diameter although I changed to 1.7" only, but the originals have lots of bumps inside to restrict airflow. I asked the guy to cut it open just for the heck of it.

Though now if I'm in 'D' with my foot on the brake, I can feel a hum and some vibration, the guy said it is because of the faster airflow out, not sure though. Any thoughts? might have to ask Lee.

End result:- heavier right foot, wider grin, fatter wallet (relatively).

Y pipe cost RM280, flexible pipe (good quality) RM120 can use back original but mine has cracked, 2 bullets RM350 because like to keep noise to bare minimum.

whole thing took 3 hours to do it. wanted to take a picture but no camera.
the place is just beside tesco puchong, anybody want to do it can call me to test drive my car before deciding, but have to buy me a beer or at least a tea.

I have asked if he can make a few more ready-made to save time for members, but he said different cars have different requirements depending on owners taste and level of mods.

basically the same price i was quoted. rm400 but need less time. good...whats the name of the shop? dont tell me is wei yip...
hows the workmanship?

the name of the shop is Wai Heng. The boss did my car personally, I think the workmanship is OK, I have not much experience with exhaust though. they seem to have good feedback in autoworld.

Now you got me worried, there used to be a wei yip exhaust in the next block, wonder if they are the same.

well...should be okie...wei yip is diff from wai heng. dont worry...
money well spent really...did u change the rear muffler?

no, the guy advised me if I want to keep it as quiet as possible I should keep the stock ones.
Maybe later I would change to a good quality one which is not too loud, any advice what brand?

changing rear muffler would not affect the sound. dont la get those N1 racing type or bullet type. get S-Flow which has bigger dimension or the same size like our stock muffler. i am using Tanabe Hyper medallion. the size is slightly bigger than stock but bigger inlet, 2.5"...
yet there is no sound at all.
