Engine Oil from Tesco

or,they know most of us hard driving kaki and drives 4 cyl car.
so 30 not suitable....

50 is almost goneand now 40 dominate market.
30 is steadily being used in newer modern engine, even turbocharged engine.i know
this cause my friend pug are recommended to run on that grade of oil.

Modern engine tolerance more precise, probably needing lighter viscosity. 50 weight old faithfully Mobil 1 5w-50 still around.....

Yup, so far the cheapest FS and 5L some more.....

I got Mitsu FS 5w-40 at RM90 for 4L at Aeon. Usually selling at RM119 but that day offer....

Yeah before this I actually used 2 rounds of that Eneos Mitsu 5w40 oil, bought at Jusco for also about rm90 I think, very cheap also! But I prefer this Mobil 5 ltr bottle because if 5ltr I just need to buy 2 bottle first and can use exactly for my 2 cars (6.5ltr +3.5ltr). Or I can use for 6ltr + 3ltr and save 1 ltr and then later buy another 5 ltr to make it 6ltr for my car again. Last time when buying 4 ltr bottles, I need to buy 3 so I can use for 2 times just for my car (2x6ltr).

Yah! it depends. Like my SUV needs 5L, so buying 4L bottle, have to buy 5 bottles for 4 times use, so I try to use same oil and use the balance for the other cars. But then problem also, as my Hyundai uses 3.5L and VR uses 4L since got oil cooler, so is very complicated :hmmmm: unlike yours is straight forward.....hhahhahahah:biggrin:

The thing is not many selling in 5ltr bottle, so far I only found this Mobil 3000 and Total.

Off and On, Shell Helix SS 10w-40 have 5L bottle too.
That day check Mitsu New SN oil, prices up over their old SM oil, but they do have 5w-30 now, previously 5w-40 and 10w-40 only. SS 5w-30(SN) RM137, where old SS 10w-40(SM) was RM99. Probably that is why they cleared the older FS 5w-40 at RM89, that means new 5w-40 should be in the RM150 region....:smokin:

For me, since I frequent outstation, I think 5w40 for me is better. Mid to high range the power is there. Easier to gain speed. 5w30 low end better so for city drive or touge is good I think. That's what I felt la. I may be wrong. Since many recommend me use 5w30 better. But gonna try 5w30 again to compare difference again.

I look more for FS oils now since I think it's much better value for money if on promo.
If there are good 5w30 FS oil available at cheap price, I'd like to try that also but so far haven't found yet.

My usual contact did not let me know. Probably he missed it too.....hhahahhahahahah:rofl:
Anyway, I still have plenty EO. If go also buy ATF on mechanic behalf.....

now my dad and i are planning to sync all car in the garage to use one oil only.
currently there are 15-50,10-40,20-50,10-30...so confusing.
our target is to at least go for semi syn which made the Aisin 20l package looks tempting.

i have been using total all this while on my waja.my blm is on tesco brand oil.
dilemma...dilemma....i trust total because of the pic attached.
mileage is 120k km and it looks like that with 10k oci..what do you guys think abt the pic?

Why using 20w-50, consuming engine oil? I used to use 5w-50 and 10w-60 for my VR. Tried 5w-30 and engine becomes noisy. Now with 5w-40 for many years dy

Can all your different engine use one viscosity?

20-50 is for the pajero.lastime frequent go offroading.
now thinkin of either 10-40 or 15-40.as long as its 40w.
dont see any problem except for the wira which might have increased oil consumption.

my old and faithful ex5 seems to run fine on car engine oil too.

I used to use Total on all my previous cars, and yes they are very good oil. My engines also looked at least as clean if not cleaner than your photo.

Yup, I feel that most engine can run well on 40 weight. 50 can be a bit heavy, even VR can feel, but if engine worn then can not be helped. Either that or use 40 but add when needed.

10k km OCI for NA should be fine, but for my VR the internals are much darker. I did 10k km OCI those days, but more frequent in later years. For turbo engine I still recommend 5k to 8k km max OCI

Even if using those expensive high end ester based FS like Motul 300v, HKS, Amsoil?

Not sure, too expensive for me. Basically better to take out dirty oil. Oil that cleans better should be change often too, if not circulating dirty oil only....
