My reference for a OEM piston would be a K24 which yields tolerable compression for pump. I suggested H22A piston because dome tom dicken harry may wanna use that amount of compression on vtec killer cams or pro3's with big primaries and race gas. I wouldn't do too thick of a headgasket coz it reduces quench and exposes the gasket which is to why it eats the gasket.

87 x 89 is ok on a b20

87 x 92 is crazy haha.

But my setup would be 84 x 87.3mm on a B18C. Might be next year.

Regarding the k-series oil pump issue. If you search on honda-tech, one of the company did a research on the oil pump and actually modified it and tested it to be reliable at high RPM already. Heck, they even put an article on what needs to be done.

anyway,d idea 2 make d biggest stroker w d b16a is due 2 its challenge......coz relatively,stroking a B20VTEC is easier coz it has more tolerances,right?n having a B20 block inside really make it hard 2 get any "frenly" games......
but since i like stock..i shall remain w my stock B16B 4 many years 2 come..

Actually that one company is hytech, and they did mod it up to 9K, but no more than that. You can run 10K, but risk starving some parts of the engine. The main issue with the K series pump is the small size, not really due to anything else. The modifications are smaller pulley to make the pump slower, and a bypass to the cam journals (or was it the VTEC?) to retain the pressure required to engage VTEC.

i don't think there's another company, but well, I don't log in too often to hondatech too. If there's update, it would be nice as like Hytech said, cannot get around the limits of the K series pump size.

87 x 92mm crazy? try 87 x 95mm, which was done, twice,, but not running thick gaskets, even with the stock gaskets, the 87mm is a lil too big if you want to have long gasket life. but you're welcome to try though. ARP bolts start to become necessary, due to the strength, and also easier to remove head for gasket replacement.
 
I wouldn't run such setup in my daily driver. Nice to have but i don't have deep pockets to run such. I do remember it saying running safely but i'm not sure how high it was. Well, lets just say " rev it till it stops making power but keeping in mind reliability" It'd be nice to hear 10K rpm screaming though...

out of curiosity, will there be any inspection for abit-too-fast-bseries? since this 2.1, 3.2, 9.5 inside b16a is getting very the fast :) furthemore the rule is 1850 if not mistaken.

any strict ruling? spotcheck?

same goes to me.... i love my b16b............. :biggrin:
 
the rule is allow any factory block that come out with 1850cc and below.
meaning 1797cc block with 92 x 88 is ok. its ftm. since we cannot get the test kit this year. the test kit is to measure a displacement by cubic inches without lifting head.
and if the cc limitation rule is being imposed, it will only for those entering QF/knockout.

we will conduct survey for the next 2 round wether they will agree to limit the cc for the competition next year. this year, stay with current rnr.

but for me, displacement is one way to make car faster but to win a competion, sometime not. :biggrin: . luck perhaps.
 
in other words, u can "cheat" all u want but if can't get to QF, what's the point of cheating?.....and if u indeed make it to QF and beyond, u better not cheat ler or else people will find out.....

suggestion: a separate 4-door category?.....give us sedan owner a chance laa....how to compete will all them hatches?....

i believe you are asking for crank girdle?
if u want to have a peace of mind and cheap insurance then get a girdle. if you plan to push more than 8000rpm or boosted vtec turbo then get a girdle.

it can either be aftermarket bolt-on or machined bored honda girdle.

u need or you dont need? as long as the block is mechanically sound and machined properly you dont need a girdle actually. save your money for some other things.

if u still want to spend on the b20, get the ARP rod bolt.

but if i spend on 20b.. can push high revv ka??
